PTE Score Calculator — How Your Band Is Built

There is no public formula that converts raw marks to the 10–90 scale — Pearson keeps the weighting private. But the mechanics of where marks come from are known, and an AI-scored mock is the most realistic score calculator available before the real exam.

How to think about your estimated score

Count the cross-scored tasks

Read Aloud, Write from Dictation, Summarize Spoken Text and the reading/writing fill-ins all feed two skills. Improving one of these moves two bands at once.

Respect the penalty tasks

In Multiple Choice Multiple Answers and Highlight Incorrect Words, reckless selections subtract — a cautious strategy is mathematically better than coverage.

Let a mock do the arithmetic

A full AI-scored mock aggregates every task's marks the way the exam does and returns an estimated overall plus four skill bands — the practical 'calculator'.

Why practice calculators can only estimate

Any tool that turns practice performance into a 10–90 number — including ours — is an estimate: Pearson's exact scaling is unpublished. What an estimate is good for is direction and readiness: consistent mock bands at or above your target across two or three attempts is the signal that booking the real exam is rational.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an official PTE score calculator?

No — Pearson does not publish the raw-to-scaled conversion. Practice platforms estimate it; treat any calculated band, including ours, as directional rather than official.

How can I estimate my PTE score before the exam?

Take a full AI-scored mock test: it applies each task's real marking rules and aggregates an estimated overall plus per-skill bands the way the exam structure does.

How accurate are estimated scores?

Consistency matters more than any single number — if repeated mocks under honest exam conditions land in the same band range, that range is a reliable readiness signal.
