How PTE Academic reading is scored
Reading is scored objectively: full marks for single-answer tasks, partial credit per blank or per correct pair, and — the trap — negative marking on Multiple Choice Multiple Answers, where each wrong selection cancels a correct one. Re-order Paragraphs awards marks per correctly adjacent pair, not all-or-nothing. PTE Monster scores every practice answer with exactly these rules, so your practice percentages translate to exam behaviour.
The pooled clock is the skill to train: on a sectional reading mock you learn how long a Re-order can be allowed to take before it starts costing easier marks later in the section.
