How PTE Academic speaking is scored
PTE scores speaking on three dimensions: content (did you say the right things), oral fluency (rhythm and flow) and pronunciation (clarity of sounds). On PTE Monster, an acoustic speech model grades your fluency and pronunciation on every recording, while content is scored per task — word-match scoring for scripted tasks like Read Aloud and Repeat Sentence, key-point coverage for open tasks like Retell Lecture and Summarize Group Discussion.
Because Read Aloud and Repeat Sentence also feed your reading and listening scores in the real exam, speaking practice quietly lifts more than one band. Both draw on heavily repeated question banks, so prediction-ranked practice means many of the texts and sentences you rehearse are the ones test takers report meeting in current exams.
