PTE Core Sectional Mock Tests

Because CLB conversion is decided by your lowest skill, sectional mocks are the highest-leverage practice in PTE Core preparation: rehearse exactly the section that is capping your level, under the real exam's timing.

The four PTE Core sectional tests

SectionQuestionsTiming
Speaking30 items across the five Core speaking tasks≈29 minutes, self-advancing prep → record flow
WritingSummarize Written Text + two Write Email tasks10 + 9 + 9 minutes, per-task timers
Reading17 items across all five reading tasks≈34 minutes on one pooled clock
Listening13 items — SST plus six other task types8-minute SST timer, then ≈17 pooled minutes

The lowest-skill strategy

Canadian immigration programs read your CLB per skill, so a single weak band drags the whole application. The efficient loop: take one full mock to find the weak skill, then drill that section with sectionals until its band clears your target, re-checking with the score chart as you go. Each sectional draws on recently reported Core exam questions, so drilling the weak section also front-loads the questions most likely to meet you in it.

Frequently asked questions

Which PTE Core skills can I take a sectional mock for?

All four — speaking (30 items, about 29 minutes), writing (SWT plus two emails), reading (17 items, pooled clock) and listening (SST on its own timer plus 12 more questions).

Are sectionals scored like full mocks?

Yes, the same AI engines score them, and each finishes with a skill scorecard you can map to a CLB level via the score chart.

How do sectionals help me reach my CLB target?

CLB is computed per skill and your application uses the levels you actually achieve — drilling your weakest section is usually the fastest way to raise the level that matters.
